C180 Carbon Ring

It's my first time doing a carbon ring replacement on our 05 c180, but also a 4tec in general. I got the c clip removed and started to pull the driveshaft out, but the metal bearing seal I believe its called came out with the driveshaft. Is this common. Am I ok to just put it back in and swap the clamp on it for a worm style?

Yes it's common and yes you can use an adjustable hose clamp to hold it in its rubber boot.
