Broken timing chain?

2003 GTX 4-Tec 135 total hours. Was riding along at about 20mph, engine quit. Starter turns crank (drive shaft turns) but no resistance. No compression in any of the three cylinders at all. SC was rebuilt about 25 hours ago. I'm thinking broken timing chain and bent valves in all three cylinders. Am I correct? If so, is this a complete tear down and rebuild?

If you take the valve cover off and turn the engine and the rocker arms don't move, that's most likely a broken timing chain (crankshaft turns but camshaft doesn't). If the chain broke while the crank was turning several thousand RPM there will likely be bent valves in the head. When valves are hit by pistons, sometimes they're just bent and other times the piston is damaged, pinching the rings in the ring lands and/or cracking the piston.

A bud of mine lost a nut down the intake of his Peugeot and didn't notice. The motor had quite a knock in it so pulled the head off found the small nut installed the head and drove the car for years.
