Bought a 98 xp ltd with 99 951 motor. As a single coil ski and the motor has a 4 protrusion mag and flywheel. What do I need to get to make the timing correct. I have a two magnet magneto a 98 pick up and stator. Do I need to replace fly wheel as well? Is the pickup location on mag cover is the same deg. On 98 vs 99? Or just use mag side tdc and drill mag cup to correct timing? Any help would be appreciated!!!

assuming all the electronics are from the 1998, you should just need the magneto, which has two 1" metal tabs on it, on opposite sides.

Everything else should be the same.

Yep everything is from a 98 single coil and two plug mpem all 98. Any idea of timing mark alignment? I heard it is not the same. I have a mg cup on its way as well as a flywheel from a 98. I think I will be able to figure it out once I have them. Figured I would see if anyone has done it or what other problems people run into. Thank you for all your help.

I know the position for the 99+. I do not for the 98. Sorry.

There are 6 ways to bolt it up, but since there are 2 tabs, I would assume you'd want a tab to be at the sensor when a piston is TDC.
(also, since it has 2 identical tabs, there are really only 3 positions it could be attached in).

That's a guess however, but would seem to make sense as each piston would be monitored by a tab.
