bought a 2001 xp, couple questions

I hear these xp's have issues with the oil injection not working. is there a good way for me to test it?
second, when i move the handle bars side to side on the traielr the steering seems to stick alittle at the end of the stroke. what can i do about that or wont i notice it in the water?

the 951 oil injection system is very reliable, it gets mistaken as faulty when people use the wrong oil or run it out of oil and get air the line. to test carefully remove an output line and hold the pump in the full open throttle position and start it, you'll see oil pumping out of it right away, only leave it running for a few seconds.

Could the nozzle hitting the tie down strap on the trailer? Some people cross it over the top of the nozzle. If not, it will probably loosen up in the water but you can get a cable lube tool and lubricate the cable, they do tend to get sticky or stiff with age.

there is also a hose missing that goes to the top of the oil sensor? or is that a vent for air?
