bogging/ no throttle response at high speeds and bumps

im a newbie at jet skis and was wondering if it is normal for a 99 spx to bog and feel like it is shutting off when i get on the throttle and when i start hitting waves and getting air, i think its not getting enough gas or something, what do you think?
 
This sounds like insufficient fuel. As the RPM increases (whether due to you hitting the throttle or the pump getting out of the water) the fuel flow is insufficient and the mixture gets too lean. The usual cause is degrading fuel lines causing clogging of the carburetor. The fix is to replace the original gray fuel lines with new fuel lines and rebuild the carburetor.
 
I agree, from my experience with seadoo, start with the carbs. There is small filters inside the carbs that clogs up easily. If you don't change the fuel lines, you will be pulling the carbs off every year or more depending on how much you ride.
 
grey fuel lines got to go, just changed mine and beleive me yours gots to go to, gareteed you pick any of them pull it off and have a look see, it would be better to take one that has some slack and cut off an inch and you will see the build up in them. and they will all be like that.
 
My saying is if a motor is not running right fix it befor something wourse happens its better to be safe then sorry,if you injured yourself how long would you put off from going to the hospital???? its not that big of a job, set a day out to take care of it all when you have everything to do so.
 
fuel lines are super easy compared to everything else on a seadoo. Replace them before you have to do carbs. And if you replace them and its still running bad do the carbs. The end.
 
No! Do not wait! Low fuel supply causes a higher oxygen to fuel ratio. Any fuel with a high oxygen supply burns much hotter. This is evidenced by fanning the charcoal in a grill. If you fan it enough, it will get too hot for you to cook with. The pistons, sleeves and rings in your SPX or any 2 stroke are not designed for the increased heat and will fail much faster, even in as little as one or two rides. Don't wait!

If you want to see what happens if you wait to do the work. Check my thread on the 787 damaged piston and head. I posted pictures of the results. Now I did not cause this but the previous owner did. If you don't want a complete motor rebuild change the lines now. Just got through changing the lines on the xp I am talking about and it was no big deal.
 
alright my im up to camp right now so i dont have lines or tools sp when i get back to my house ill go to advanced auto and get some lines, what tools will i need to do them?
 
how do you adjust those fuel selectors? mine goes way paste on and way before reserve it needs to be turned
 
When you put it back in you should be able to correctly locate it. It should have a nut behind the knob. The 97 XP I'm working on actually had a notch in the fiberglass that it lines up with. Not exactly sure on your machine.
