bog off idle when cold...

If you are not running stock parts/settings, you will have to be a good tuner. Start experimenting with the primer. If it helps the issue, turn each low mixture screw out 1/4 turn, re-adjust idle speed and try again. Odds are you will need to run a rich idle to compensate for the extra air your aftermarket filters deliver.

PS. I love chokes. they are litterally "fail safe". No extra small fuel lines or plastic T's to break and leak gas, no vaccum leaks. Easy to stop a runnaway with the choke.. Etc.

I have the primer on my skidoo which is handy at the start of the season working the old gas through the carbs, but other than that, regular choke works just fine for me.

Just ran through all 20 pages of my "semi" resto thread. I was having the same issue before and it was carb related. I'm going to pull my carbs and see if something somehow moved, broke, got plugged, etc.

De-winterized my skis today. In doing so I pulled off the carbs and went through them just to make sure it wasn't something simple. Cleaned them while I had them off and everything was clean like new already. Set the carbs spot on this time as I had them a little rich last time. Will take it out next weekend to see if it made any difference. Doubt it did since all looked in order. I'll start richening up the low speed if it bogs again and see what happens.

Well took it out today.....actually at the lake and she ran like a raped ape. Could use a little richening of the low speed but otherwise appeared to be the rectifier. Guess we'll see. I'm at the lake now and only have a few mins on it so far. By myself, so sticking close to the boat ramp.

Right before I took her out today.

At my local spot

I felt like there was just the slightest hesitation off idle, but I'm also using old fuel with stabil in it. So I bet once I get fresh pre mix in she'll run great. I haven't a clue what I actually did to fix it.

Here are my observations from what I messed with:
Pulled carbs off last time and went through and cleaned them again. When I assembled them I noticed the arm was a little high in one carb. Bent that per spec.

Bought a rectifier from minnetonka last year cause I knew at some point I would need one. I pulled my old new and it looked crusty. So replaced it.

Set my carbs dead on from the specs I got from the tuner I got my kit from. Might could use a little more n the low end.....gonna ride it for now.

I think I like your decals better than OEM. It looks good. I too fixed my off idle bog. I pulled the carbs off again and noticed one arm was bent up more than the other. Bent it down per manual and it's running spot on!

Thanks! I hope that was all it was. Although it kind of makes sense that the needle was staying closed until I was able to get enough fuel through to open it. Then once it was free it ran fine.....I dunno I'm really just guessing at this point.

I think it's safe to say I have this licked and my ski dialed in! The specs given to me by the tuner were a fantastic start! I'm now about 1 3/4 turns out in the pto and about 1.5 out on the mag for low speed. Then almost 1 turn out on pto and .5 turns out on the mag for high speed. It smells a tad rich on the low end and I might lean that up just a smudge.

My original specs were one turn out for both low speed. 3/4 for pto and .5 for mag on the high speed.

She ran flawless and at the top end was finally able to start inching away from the other 2 x4's I was riding with. Plugs are nice and dark but dry. I like mine on the dark side of tan. Also with me pre mixing they'll be slightly darker.

I can punch it from a dead stop and with the trim all the way down the nose launches out of the water!!!! Sooooooooooo much fun this weekend riding, can't wait to get out again.

You no hot start issues anymore. Don't even use the primer when hot. Hit the start button and feather the gas a little and we're off.
