I want you to really be over it. Throw me some details via PM so I can attempt to help.

It doesnt matter how much experence any guy has...we all make mistakes. Want to hear my dumbest one this past season??

My just finished mod ski...put it in the water and took my sweet time getting my gear on. Get back to the ski and the ski wont move. Open the seat and the water is up to the carbs. The one way valves didnt do their job and let water in.

So that isnt my dumbest move...I then tug it up on shore to attempt to check if theres water in the motor. Bet you can guess what happened....yup when I tugged it up on shore I got a rock in the intake grate and bent the hell out of my skat magnum prop.

Luckily I had my other ski with me. Got home and pulled the pump. no water in the motor but I had to send the prop out for repair. Glenn at Skat turned it around in less than a week.

I now turn on my bilge pump EVERY time and just leave it running when the engine is off. I should have known better to trust a one way ball valve.

well Minnetonka4me I'm glad you mentioned this because I was seriously considering the 1 way ballvalves on both of my skis, and was told they were flawless, as long as you check for stuck debris like leaves and stuff before each outing....

crazy..

Yeah...there is no FOOL PROOF way. It was pulled up on shore, maybe a small pebble backed up in there from waves. For the most part they are flawless, but if you rely on them...at some point they will get ya.

I would still highly recommend them...They keep water out of the bilge. When you run Pro-ks or whatever its so easy to "jump" water up into them. Or in my case when I bobber the machine under water after a big jump...so much faster than waiting for the pump to empty it out.
