Well put the Bimini top on today and thought I would post a pic of the finished product. I have the back support poles too, but haven't decided if I am going to use them yet. I am leaning towards using them, but was wondering if there were any pros or cons to either setup?

If you dont use the back poles, the front hooks will pull right out of the fiberglass at about 30 MPH or even less on a windy day. Ask me how I know - same boat been there done that.

Well that would be a pretty convincing argument for rear support poles. I could just use bolts with washers on the backside to prevent that from happening. Maybe I should do that anyhow, even if I use the support poles.

How far back should I go to mount the support poles? Can I drop it straight down next to the arm rest or should I take it back along the same path as the strap?

Don't know how I missed this one... but yes... use the rear poles. It makes life much easier.

My top won't go under the cover... so I can put it on at home, and leave it folded back, and in the boot while driving to the lake.

My rear legs are short, and they mount just in front of the hatch, so it can still open without hitting. Also... the wife likes the shade... and I like the sun... so it's easy to flip it back and forth as needed.
