I'm not well versed in fiberglass care. Is there a best practice of protecting the fiberglass top and bottom sides of a new never been in water ski? Is there a sealer that's best used first or just any old wax, or something else?
I'm picking it up this week and planning the needed work, reg numbers etc.

thanks

I like "Mothers" car wax myself, keeping the gelcoat waxed helps seal it from oxidation, mineral deposits and moisture penetration that leaves that bathtub ring.

It will never look better than when new out of the crate! :)

IMO any good wax will work just fine, try to keep it off the rubrails.

What I do is give it a quick fresh water rinse at home or the car wash on the way back from the ramp, wipe it down with a soft cloth, sponge out any leftover water in the foot-wells, inspect the inside for water, should be bone dry, lift the seats up a bit to let some air movement in, turn out the lights.

every 3rd or 4th ride, I spray some crc 656 on the engine, some fluid film on the pump.

best way to protect that finish hands down is keepiung it in a garage, store it inside, resist filling the footwells with garage "stuff" to avoid scratches.

I use a marine wax as it seems to last a little longer but only by a few rides nothing seems to stick long :(

In discussion with a few people, it was suggested that especially for the first coat on a new ski that the synthetic protective products would be the best way to go. These two products were suggested as top of the line. Has anyone used them and can provide their experience?

Meguiars #21 Synthetic Sealant
Gel Coat Labs All Marine Surface Sealant

thanks!
