I sold my 95 SP so I need another battery for either my 01GTXDI or my 02GTXDI. Any opinions which is better of the two that I have pictured below?IMG_8413.JPGIMG_8412.JPG

Neither battery is readily available. I would have to travel about an hour to get the yuasa and about a week to get the Deka. But I’m willing to wait if it’s definitely a battery battery. Thanks for any opinions

I"m no expert and may get flamed for the suggestion... but we've been using the Way-Mart AGM battery in our Yamahas and Sea Doos for years. They've served us well. Readily available and reasonable on price.

A couple months ago when I wasn’t really looking for a battery I happened to look in our Walmarts battery section and they did not have any Pwc batteries. Good to know though. Thanks.

One advice: buy the one the closest to your home.

The last two skis I bought came with the Deka agm battery in it already. My first ski came with that yuasa but is no longer any good. I think the yuasa is supposed to be a good battery but I didn’t know if the AGM technology in the deka“trumped” the yuasa name brand. Several of the auto parts stores could get the Deka equivalent in their brand but I never heard of them for pwc use. After about 20 phone calls I finally located someone who actually could get the Deka brand in the Pwc size I needed. And they can get it overnight. So it looks like I’m going to purchase this tomorrow morning but any insight would still be appreciated.

I know it is not on your list but I love Odyssey batteries. The current one in my XP is from 09 and it has outlived the original 'Doo it started out in and is still going strong. It also has done occasional summer duty as a powerwheels battery for the kids electric JD Gator. I got about 10 years out of the one in my motorcycle before it wouldn't take a charge anymore but I blame that on my neglect to put the tender on it. I did have another one die after about 6 years but something was wrong with the rectifier on that unit so I think that helped kill it. They are not cheap but they work well.

I am actually very impressed with the Walmart batteries. The one in our tractor has outlived the JD branded one that it came with and it was only $20 at the time. I also have one in my niece's quad for about a year without any problems.

I judge my success in life by how long I can go without trips to Wal-Mart, but their batteries have been better / cheaper than any other source we've found. Our local Wal-Marts all stock the YB-16 equivalent in an AGM model. We're particularly good to batteries - they remain on a battery tender when not in use - but we have 3 of these that have been going 5+ years-- 2 of which only see use for about 1 week per year.

I can't say I'd advocate for any particular brand of battery.....just be advised that a properly running ski with a good rectifier/regulator will keep damn near any battery up to snuff for the next start cycle (assuming the battery is up to snuff to begin with). Just my 2 cents.

Are they agm?

Yes, sealed AGM and I was wrong on the price.

And this one has more CCA than the one you posted in post #1, 310 vs. 270 CCA.

The yuasa did not say AGM on the outside of the battery so that’s why I was questioning its Quality. I ended up getting an agm battery from my local NAPA parts store for $99. They told me it was a DEka brand, but when I picked it up it said Napa on it. The guy at Napa told me every Monday a Deka battery truck comes to deliver their batteries and Napa just rebrands them. A day or two after purchasing the battery from Napa I stopped at my local Walmart and decided to browse the battery section and yes they did have the appropriate battery to fit my ski it was just located in a different isle from the automotive batteries. I decided to pull the battery out of the box it was in and it looked Identical to the Deka/napa battery that I just bought. I know you can’t judge a book by its cover. It also had the exact same paperwork and Hardware with it. The price of their battery is $78.88.

Yes, the AGM's at walmart are Deka batteries. I've had several DEKA batteries but bought at Advanced Auto when they used to carry them by DEKA. Same case, same weight, same style and placement of the 3D barcode printed on the light grey case. I was paying sub $70 for the AGM's from AA with an online coupon code. I have 4 stores with in 12 miles of me at the farthest point so I order online and pick up in store.

Walmart has really decent batteries for vehicles.
