A good battery will last 3 to 5 years if maintained.
If it's a wet battery, and some of the acid evaporates or spills out, and then it sits all winter, and goes dead... it may not come back the next summer.
In my stand up skis... I install AGM batteries, and keep them charged. I personally don't like trickle chargers or a maintainer type charger. I just throw it on a regular charger about once a month, or at most... every 6 weeks over the winter.
My record is about 7 years on a sealed battery. and 5 on a wet battery. BUT... I change them as soon as they get weak. (I hate to have a dead battery sitting in the water)

One last thing....
There are a lot of "House Brand" batteries that aren't worth a dam. I have seen batteries from Wal-mart, chef Auto, Kregan Auto, Advance auto, and from Interstate not last more than a couple months. I've also seen batteries from the above sources not take a real charge right from the box. (they were dead the next morning)
I always stick with Die-Hard, Yuasa, or Panasonic. (but they are hard to find)

I just replaced both batteries in our "new to us" 06' GTX's... The resting voltage of the originals was barely over 12 VDC (should be 12.6, 12.0 is only 20% capacity) .. I bought AGM so no more watering chores and they typically have longer cycle life... I DO believe in a good three phase maintenance charger. Bulk, absorbtion and float .. My sled batteries stay on them all summer. Previous owner did NOT check electrolyte level in the original batts on the seadoos, once the plates are exposed to air, they sulfate quickly and die.. I'd ballpark 5 years as pretty good life from these small batteries.

I just picked up a odyssey battery and I love it paid 90 bucks for it shipped to my house.
