Bailers pouring in water

98 GSX Limited. Been taking on water bad. For the life of me I couldnt figure out where it was coming from. It looked like the water box for the exhaust because it was slightly melted on one part. I bypassed it and stopped that but it didnt fix the issue.
I just put it on the water with only the nose on the trailer. I ran it and it looked like water was very slowly filling up. I noticed some small bubbles under one of the bailers. I went half throttle and noticed alot of bubble. I picked it up slightly while running half throttle and both bailers are pouring in water at anything above idle.
Whats causing this? I read another thread about the small tubes out the back of the impeller and both look fine on mine.

Wire tie the bailers up high, just under the seat.

yes they are tied up high and exiting out the back bottem. could one be plugged or something? Should I cap them off and try again?

The tubes are missing from the nozzle. When they fall out, or get loose... you will just pump water in.

Yep... that's them. Are they loose? If they are tight... and the hoses are tied up high... you shouldn't get water in the bailers.

They were tight and tie rapped up high in factory position. I took out the boilers, blocked off the lines and tested it out. Sure enough it was them. No idea as to why they were pouring it in. After I capped off the lines I noticed water was coming through the sides of the inline yellow "L" fittings. After I capped them off it fixed the issue.
Would you recommend an electric bildge or none at all? Do these skis normally take in small amounts of water?

That was the first thing I checked about 2 months ago. I took it all back apart to re silcone it and the O rings were there and in good shape.

I am at a loss myself. I plan to buy an electric bildge but I still want to know the problem. It all started on a vacation trip. We drove the skis about 15-20 miles on Lake Travis in Texas at full throttle. When we made it back we notice the back end had started to sink.
just recently I put it in the water while it wasnt running and noticed a drip/pour from the exhaust hose to the water box. I took off the hose and the water box was melted. I bypassed that and then found out it was the bailers today.

well... it's a simple system. The water going across the tubes in the nozzle acts as a venturi, and creates a vacuum. When they are missing, or have a seal leak... they are sitting in the pressure side, and push water back in.

If you are going to block them off... then yes, you will need an electric bilge pump since the drive shaft seal (Carbon seal) leaks water by design.

Is your trim working? I had a gsi doing the same thing. I replaced the hoses elbows and tubes, still had the problem. My trim was not working and was angled down and the nozzle in that direction created a reverse suction and as soon as i adjusted my trim manually it stopped. I took out the trim motor manually spun the trim to a level position and then put the trim motor back on. fixed my problem. For a short fix just to ride it i disconnected the black bailers from the hoses, i ran the lines out the back of the hull between the seat and grab bar. I just held them out of the hull then snapped the seat down. The faster you go the more water shoots out. Hopefully this helps
