RESTO Anyone seen this before?

Rotary shaft gear is smashed. Anyone seen this before? Any idea what caused it?

I had one similar looking to that before. Ended up being from a bent RV shaft and only chewed up the outer edge of the gear on a few teeth

Good info. Just checked after you saying yours was bent and this one is bent. Sweet deal.

But why did it bend? Typically it is when something falls down the carb and stopps the rotary valve from spinning and the brass gear strips thus bending the shaft.

I'm sure that is probably what caused it. Purchased the ski with a "new top end". Previous owner probably just replaced the brass gear without checking the shaft and I was the lucky one that got to figure it out.

I’m anticipating something dropped. Allen bolt was missing so my guess is someone used the wrong bolt
