Anyone ever make a throttle stop?

I have been pulling a lot of tubes/boards lately and keeping a steady throttle is getting to be a pain. For tubes, it's not that big a deal - the slack rope and resulting jerk is all part of the ride. But for any sort of board, it's not that much fun. I was thinking to just make a wooden wedge to slide behind the thumb throttle so I could just push it solid at whatever speed I wanted to go, but would still return to idle if I let go.

Anyone ever done something similar?

I had something that I used on an old Tigershark (it was a small piece of plastic ) but I was flamed quite a bit for using it by the stand up crowd on another website.

i used to shove my safety whistle in there... Instant cruise control. if I shoved it in a little bit like the pic below, it would idle about 7mph for the no wake zones, if I shoved it in half way, it would run about 25mph, or all the way for full throttle any wedge would work fine, but I can tell you that mine would pop out if I hit a little chop, usually very unexpectedly.

this setup also came with a "beer rack" :)

Yeah it's beginning to be a pain behind my gtx. I ski at around 5000rpm and that's pretty easy to handle, but when I wakeskate I usually do it around 4200rpm. At that speed it seems like the engine just wants to take off, so any slight movement launches the rpms up to 4700

the newer ski's have a cruise control feature... anything else just seems dangerous to me...
To be clear, I am not trying to make a cruise control. What I am trying to do is limit the travel on the throttle so the top speed is limited and RPMs can be held relatively constant. Then I would not have to concentrate so much on keeping speed constant and be able to focus more on the skier and objects in the water.

I have some stuff called "instamorph". It is a plastic that softens at about 150 degrees F, and can be worked like playdoh to a final shape. It's great for making replacement knobs and such. I think I may play with that and see what I can come up with.

Yep, no good reason to own a Tigershark. Oh, you were talking about the throttle stop. Sorry.

could you tie some kind of wrap or zip ties on the handle bar, so it will limit how much throttle you can give? so basically you'll be putting on like a limit on how much travel the throttle has

What about something like a wooden wedge and a stainless hose clamp. After you give it enough gas to get the skier out of the water you could just slide it between the handlebar and throttle

Would be sweet to install something on the other handlebar that when activated squishes the throttle cable between rubber jaws or something. I've often wanted cruise control or some way to hold the throttle steady too on those long cruises. This idea has crossed my mind not once.
