Well guys, here is the newest chapter to my boat chronicle. First off, for everyone that has helped me in the past thank you very much.

So i decided to pull'er out of a month age winterization, opened the engine compartment and its full of water!!! I decided to pull both motors and rebuild. My question: Does the crank case need to be cracked open, i think so since there was water in bottom. No water got in to the magneto assym, thank god i think.

Another thing, are there any surprizes to be aware of, things i may need to buy other than the full rebuild gasket kit?

Well, that sux.

How did the water get in? Were the plugs out?

OK... if the mags were dry, I would buy the gasket kit, but only start with the top end. Pop the jugs off, and if they look good, and there is no sign of water intrusion... I would just put it back together.

If you do find water in the bottom half... then yes, you will need to split the case, and have the cranks rebuilt.

I would at least flush the oil out of the lower case. If you see any milky oil that show signs of water in there, then I'd open it and clean it out. If the oil comes out nice, don't open it.

How did water get in? Tell me that you had the drain plug out for winter storage?

My guess is the footwell hose leaked into the engine bay from a rainstorm and as the others said you need to remove the drains plugs when out of the water, you may need nothing at all except a dry out, before you try starting make sure there is a safe fuel system, water can camaflouge fuel pretty easily, the green cleaner from walmart works pretty well to get out the oily film and supposedly makes itself bio-degradable somehow.

Yup, than for the advice. Everything was taken to account. I decided since mom has a nice lift, to pull'em. I started with carbs to see if there was water below, and of course there was. BTW, I poured milk out of the crankcase, so yeah both have to be rebuilt. So I was told one motor had been rebuilt, and the other never been touched.

The good side: I bought the boat for 3k, ran ok before; but needed some tuning. Motor one, good to go, just need to take apart, rebuild carbs, and re-lube.

The bad: Motor two, unsure which(rebuilt or not), that both pistons were shot and the sleeves were f'ed.

The ugly: Both the crankshaft nut and the other side disk looking thing are seized onto it.

I don't have the tool to hold the driveshaft side, does anyone have a suggestion. Also, what is needed to rebuild the crankshaft -or- What am I looking for to be worn on it?

Thank you everyone with the suggestions and the help!!!
