noticed yesterday that on my '97 GSX the front elec box has an exposed circuit board which sure doesn't seem right? (I took a picture but having trouble downloading from camera to laptop) The elec box has 3 harness connections across the bottom. (which the manual has labeled as Rear, Steering, Info Gauge). On the upper left is a cover that has a few fuses inside. But on the upper right there is as exposed circuit board with red wires going into the right side of it. Looking at the manual, is this the rectifier?

I was thinking a cover may have fallen off that I need to go fishing around the hull for. But the manual doesn't really show a cover, it looks to me that the (rectiifier?) is a sealed unit in the picture in the manual?

I opened up the my '96 GSX to compare and it's totally different, it's got a totally enclosed gray box with screw on wire connectors.

I don't think that ski has a front box. If you are looking at the MPEM... and you see a small square module with a few yellow wires, a red, and a black... yes, that the rectifier, and NO... you ski doesn't have a box. (it should have a rear box with the coil in it though)

yep, 3 yellows a red and a black, looked in there with a flashlite and saw that the circuit board on the rectifier that i thought was exposed is actually encased in clear plastic. At least now I learned where my MPEM and rectifier are. :) thanks
