I am having a problem that has me completely stumped. The one I'm having trouble with is my 96 SPX 717!*

The timing of the rotary valve is right, the brass gear isn't stripped, but I'm still having air/starter fluid/gas spray back out of the carbs. Could low compression in the cylinders cause it to blow back out? Any help would be great!!*

Thanks

What is the compression? Sounds to me that the timing is off, or bad rotary valve.

The timing is where it should be according to the manual. How do you know if the actual valve is bad?

If there is physical damage to the valve, is the only way it can go bad. Normally, the case clearance becomes high... but you wouldn't get a lot of blow back.

To me... it sounds like you have it timed wrong.

There's a little nick on one of the flat edges...but I wouldn't of thought that little thing could do so much?
