If i was to get an aftermarket head for my 951, it boosts the compression a bit so would that mean it would run a bit hotter? maybe too hot? and what kind of power can i expect from that?

what are some other power mods i can do?

I have come to realize from reading all the threads here is that these motors aren't really all that good to increase power. They are built by Rotax to max specs for the most part and the 1-2hp increase you might get from intake, exhaust, etc isn't worth the money. They aren't like motorcycles, dirtbikes, atv's that you can put bigger cam, intake and exhaust and it will drastically increase performance.

sigh.

so 2 strokes arent worth doing up?

ill just have to stick with my original plan of doing an engine swap when this one blows :hurray:

Thats one thing I have seen from the rotax engines as well is that the 787 is making a LOT of power for size. The Factory pipe adds I think 10 hp for about 800 or so I think? Where you can get a pipe for the older rotax 650s and it is good for 20 hp. BUT, there IS more power to be had from them forsure but reliability might not be as great.

.........well, maybe

While I'll agree that when Rotax built these engines as high performance engines, starting with the patented RAVE valve system and now, up to the supercharged, 255 hp 4-TEC engines, there is still mods that can be done.

But like it's been stated above, for just the average joe, all this extra money spent, isn't worth the extra couple miles per hour your going to see.

Now, if you want to become a racer in a circuit, there is several mods you can do to increase horsepower dramatically. But you must remember, when you mod to these extremes in a race circuit, they replace these engines regularly. The life span of an engine that has been modded to that degree, isn't very long.

The best way to add extra "umphh" in your ski is to use a pump wedge, or a power nozzle. Maybe a change in impeller and nozzle. But even then, the expense of these changes, in my opinion, far outweigh the benefits of what you receive in ski output.

But on the river, riding with a bunch of your friends, to some, that extra one or two mph that will put you out in front of them, is worth the cost for the "bragging rights".........

I'm to old for bragging rights. I just want to finish the race. I dont' care if I come in first............
