Accelerator Pump Problem

I found a great post called "Accelerator Pump Problem" by member 'joebarnes' back in '08. Great post, same problem I have, however...on this accelerator pump, there's an inlet and an outlet. Do these have check valves on them??? I know the inlet does cause I can see the little ball and spring. Can I access this ball and spring, ie take it out to clean it? There's little brass looking caps on the ends of the check valve areas. I believe called 'freeze caps'? Can I take these off? I can find no exploded views of the accelerator pump anywhere and no kit for servicing these check valves. I have a Mikuni BN40i-38-24 44mm I-series carb. Kind of sad if these check valves can't be serviced.

those aren't check valves, they are factory plugs that are necessary for creating that hole or passage, you can't remove them, they are pressed into position permanently, there's nothing there except a passage.

there are check valve and are serviceable and located just off the diaphram, see seadoosnipes write up on the acc pump.

Those balls are to plug off holes drilled during the manufacturing process. Don't remove them.

These are check valves...

Hi again, there's at least one check valve on the inlet. Check out the attached picture. In that hole (see new picture) I can see (and actuate) a small spring and ball. + how would the pump work if there's no check valves somewhere in the system + it says in the manual you should only be able to blow one way so there's at least one check valve in there + even seadoosnipe says they're check valves (thanks for pointing me to that writeup). In any case carb cleaner's and boiling in vinegar for 2+ hours is not doing the trick. This backing plate is about $200. I'm probably going to try to remove the balls and fix it - hopefully. Since the pump doesn't work anyway there's nothing to ruin. If I get it out I'll take some pics for all....
