The sea doo I just purchased has been winterized and I was wondering if taking out the battery for the the winter will affect it. I know there are items stored in the computer such as hours used, etc.
Do I need a cover. I will only be towing it five minutes to the local lakes. Maybe 1 hour once a month. It will be stored in the garage out of the sunlight. Do I still need a cover for towing?

Do you know the age of the battery? I'd say hooking it up to a trickle charger (I use a device called a Battery Tender) at least once a month or just leave it connected. It automatically shuts off when the battery is fully charged.

The battery is fairly new. I have a charger that goes into trickle when charged. Is it ok to charge with the battery connected?

Yes, but in case of any slight current drains it is best to disconnect it in the winter. A drained battery that is allowed to freeze becomes junk and needs to be replaced.

GG, I'm fairly close to you, I would take the battery out and put it in your basement for the winter and charge once it a month for a little bit.....DON'T OVERCHARGE IT.

If stored in a garage then just put a tarp over it to keep the dust and such off of it. Just like R2B said no cover is needed to tow it a few miles

Make sure when charging that you don't use more then 2 amps while it is installed, also don't try and start it while the charger is connected.

I see you are in White Lake. That is fairly close. You live on the lake? Do you ever ride on St Clair, I looking forward to riding there a few time a month.

I have jump started a ski...on the water...with a set of automotive jumper cables. No problems encountered with either ski afterward.

I am pretty certain it is Ok to jump from another ski. The problem with jumping it from a running car, as I understand it, is the cars charging system is running at something like 13+ volts which can fry the seadoo mpem. Maybe one of the experts can chime in and confirm this or set me straight...SUG

I have read here not to jump a ski. Or is it ok from another ski?

I've read the same thing. Heard the same from others.

I'm just putting my own personal experience out there. I've jumped dead batteries...hooked up in the ski...off a charger...no probs.

Maybe I'm just one lucky sob.

Its ok to jump start, just don't have the other ski, car, etc running while doing so. Be extra careful with the positive and negatives that they don't cross, if you see a spark chances are something got fried.
