99 XP or 99 GSX?

I have ridden an XP for YEARS and I need a new boat. What are your thoughts on the XP vs the GSX? I really enjoy riding the XP! you can spin it violently, stand it on its tail and spin it in circles!
with that in mind, I watched a video of a guy doing these types of tricks with a GSX, so I thought maybe it would work instead of an XP.
what I noticed is the GSX hull seems to be more shallow in the rear and the boat is 1.5 inches wider. How much will this affect handling etc.
any input would be appreciated!

My XP is the older X4 style hull, but I have ridden a 97 and 200 (I think, had the 951 anyway), and all I can say is they are different. I liked the XPs, but I think the GSX hull does a better job of combining maneuverability with stability. The XP is just more on the "sporty" side than the GSX is (you will have a much harder time making those pics with a GSX). I love both though. My X4 is ridiculously unstable, but fun.

maneuverability; GOOD! Stability; not so much. boring!

I've ridden both, (2002 XPL) and I very much prefer the 99 GSX over the wishbone on almost every level, I can't think of a single thing I liked about the XPL compared to the GSX.

I've owned both, and am the opposite. XP rides smoother, lands smoother, and turns better.

GSX jumps out of the hole and will 360 all day. It's lighter than the XP.

It's all personal preference. In my opinion nothing more fun than carving corners on and inside-lean XP Limited. Compared to the flat turning GSX.

yes, its preference, I've always liked the flater turning, it the GSX carved well enough for my twisty runs, I never felt like I was going to eat a branch, and I'm not a buoy guy, not my thing.

The XPL was way too tippy for me and the storage bin always melted my sammiches and cooked my beer, fug dat. The XPL was the only ski i've fallen off of at 3mph. < it was so embarrassing.

Didn't like the seat on the xpl, too high, too narrow, not well suited for 2 up, the hood was huge, felt clunky.

Just noticed the date on my pic, can't believe I sold that almost 6 years ago now. Time flys ! FWIW I sold it and did the "upgrade" to a 96 xp.

the bottom of the hull's are different. Its been a long time since i've seen them side by side but if I recall the XPL is much deeper.

I've owned both a 1998 XP (My first ski) and a 1998 GSXL (Still own a 1997.5 GSXL). There are several things to consider, but the two most important in my mind:

1. The XP is a 1-person ski in reality and the GSXL on the other hand, handles two riders without a problem. You can ride 2-up on the XP, but you will get wet.
2. As others have mentioned, the GSXL is going to be boring through the corners, especially if you like to hit the buoys.

Again, it's all personal preference. But if you want to stand this new ski straight up, and rip through corners get an XP. I don't see it happening in a GSXL. If you want to cruise, ride 2-up, and still be able to go through buoys and 360's occasionally, the GSXL is your ski.
