For 2 seasons my plugs keep getting fouled after 1 weekend.

I thought I had this problem last season, as in July I figured out how to clean the air cleaner... All was great for the rest of the season.

Now Fast forward to this season and I've had the GTI out maybe 4-5 weekends with no problems.

last weekend she lost all power and wouldn't get over 20 mph.

so we brought her to shore, and pulled the air cleaner (PIA) and it was clean as ever. cleaned the fuel filter, then I pulled the plugs and they were bad so I figured since I didn't change them since last July I will just put a set in there.
I put new plugs in and she drove like a champ again until 1 week later (this weekend)

She started out fie but I was spinning around jumping wakes etc...when she lost power again.

Limped her to shore and checked the plugs-yep bad again. Borrowed a set from another guy and she started fine and took off for a sec but then lost power on the way to the dock.

so we limped back to the trailer and now I'm back home...

What am I missing?

Thanks

pull plugs, groundthe boots to the ground lugs, and hit start button. Make sure you got towel over plug holes. Try'n to see, if its puking oil. If so, ur inner seals are bad.

Today before I changed the plugs I took them out and hit the start button and nothing came up... I dont remember if I grounded the boots tho.

If its the inner seal, How bad is that to change out?

I know cars better than Boats or PWC's... What is the crank assy? is that a whole engine rebuild? this is sounding bad for me...

let it sit tonight, then pull plugs and hit button, see if it pukes out. Not bad idea, to pull carbs and go thru them.

Thanks for the advice. I was hoping to hold on to her one more season. Before upgrading.
She is already in storage so maybe later in the week I will pull her out and see what I get.

One other thing- I topped the oil tank off this morning and maybe put a bit too much in it. Would that cause a problem?

Nothing shoots up out if the engine when I hit the start button. A friend o mine said it is probobally the crap gas I'm using 10% ethanol

cool. Pull the carbs, go thru them, replace the grey fuel lines, and install a new inline filter and fuel selector switch.

new development today. new plugs, new 91 No E gas.

Took her out and she worked like a champ. til half way through the day and the tank of gas.

Same problem started up again.

Another Seadoo buddy of mine wanted to try his theory on it so I let hin take her out.

He began to mess with the Fuel selector switch.

So I took it out and started to play with that.

Fuel selector on Gas.

under throttle it bogs down and has no power. While on the throttle, you lean the fuel selector to no gas until she regains her power, then put the selector back on Fuel and she works great.

Come to a stop and you have to do that all over again.

By the end of the day I thought I found the sweet spot on the selector to where it would run fine.

So If the selector is causing my troubles, do I just replace that, or is there more to this?

How to replace the selector is the next question?

selector

reoplace it bud. Remove the silicone insert, then removethe panhead screw, pry off the knob, then undo the big hex nut under it. The selector unit, will fall into the hull.

I can find that part listed in the Tab at the top of the page.

Do you know what the part # is for the selector?

Where is the best place to buy these?

I pulled off the switch and it looked clean and I blew threw it and didnt feel any blockages, Im thinking the problem lies elswhere.

I also lost the Fuel cap... I pulled it off to relieve presure when taking off the fuel lines and I must have left it on the SEADOO when I took it to my friends place.

Stopped my the Seadoo Shop today and talked to my friend ( and bought a enw gas cap). He looked at the switch too and it looked fine to him he said next is the fuel filter under the carbs.

Doesnt sound easy, but he says just take off the carbs and clean or replace that filter in there.

I will try to start that tomorrow.

Got to that Filter and it was Black and Dirty, Cleaned it back to its normal white color and I think I will be good to go this wekend.

Well I got her to the lake and the new battery was not starting the boat today... After all this little crap with the fuel, the battery fails.

I did Jumped it and it ran like a champ again.

Now that battery is on a charger hopefully she will be good again next week.
