I went to start it and it acted like there wasnt even a battery in it. I pulled the cover off the electric boz and checked and I had 12v at the starter sol. but the 15amp fuse that feeds off the hot side of the sol. was smoked. I replaced the fuse and immediately saw smoke and the fuse melted......It was coming from behind the VTS motor. Looked like the module for the VTS......the top was melted. I unplugged the 2 connectors that come off of it and the ski would then not blow the fuse and would start. Could the VTS be shorted and cause all this? What would cause this? thanks.

pop the cover off the vts and check for water inside. if the boot on the vts control arm leaks, it can short out.

Yeah. I did pop open the VTS cover where you can look in and see the motor. There wasnt any water but def looked like it had been there. It was very corroded. So from what you said that it can cause it to short out, if that boot leaks it can cause this. Anywhere to get a new VTS assm? Or is it dealer only?

I've got 2 ski's with VTS, the VTS work on my 96GSX, doesn't work on the 96XP, to tell you the truth it doesn't make a lot of difference. Before the VTS quit working in the 96XP I hardly ever used it anyway, when it stopped working I just left it set somewhere near the middle position. If it were me I would just leave it unplugged and forget it.

If you want to fix it there is a trim fix kit, we're not supposed to give supplier's names unless they are a site sponsor, just googe "seadoo trim fix", you'll find it. The other option is to find a used one, you can PM minnetonka4me on this forum, he has good used parts and very reasonable prices.

i have to agree wit Lou, I have my vts set 1 notch above middle and very rarely move it.

Priced a new one from the dealer here. They want over $500 for the motor and housing! Looks like I will be either finding a used one or like you guys just said......find a good spot to set the trim and leave it!

Has anyone ever used this "trim fix kit" Or know anything about it other than what t here site says about it?
