98 XP LIMITED wont start please help

If its powering up the gauges without the key on, I don't believe it's your stop start switch. It's possibly a DESS post, but I am still leaning towards the solenoid
 
Duh.... I should have read better. 9 times out of 10 its the solenoid. You can test the signal wire from the ecu to the solenoid plug with a multimeter and see if its receiving a signal to make sure.
 
would running water through it do if it was not turned on?

It goes, Engine on, water on, water off, engine off.

If you have water on before you start the engine you can out water into the cylinders once it flows through the exhaust.

I have read over this thread a bit and you are kind of bouncing around based on suggestions.

Do me a favor and check for voltage at the yellow wire of the solenoid when the START button is being pushed.
 
image.jpgsorry everyone and thanks for the info. been gone to the lake all weekend and I just got back. multimeter at the yellow wire leading into the solenoid it goes to .04 when the button is depressed then back to zero

unplugged the fuses plugged them in plugged in and unplugged the solenoid a couple times and now everything's working fine again...

a ghost lives in my machine
