98 GTX does not eat oil

Hello guys! My first post so probably a silly question:

Just picked up (2 days ago) a 1998 GTX. Had it in the water - works great, lots of fun - no complaints.

But when i used up entire tank of gas - my oil tank remained 3/4 full?!?!

Is this normal? Few of my buddies with jet skis say it should've been nearly empty.

I have a 99GTX...sounds normal to me.

The seadoo has a variable oil injector system. It only uses as much as it needs based on rpm's. The faster you run it the more rpm's the more oil it uses. The seadoo should use about 3/4 of a quart of oil for every 5 or 6 gallons of fuel.

yeah mine doesn't seem to use hardly any oil also so I would say your good.

If some monkey put mineral oil in and mixed it with the existing synthetic, it may never empty before the crap clogs the entire system and burns up your engine.

you will need to purge that oiling system and start over with the oil of your choice, preferably synthetic, and never mix em again.

I accidentally did this when I first got my XP and asked the dealer what to use, and he gave me mineral. I noticed that I wasn't burning oil so I started to premix. Then I read on here that it gums up the system, tore mine down, and lo and behold, the stuff that mixed looked like jello with brown clumps of what looked like seaweed growing in the bottom.

Couldn't agree with you more. There is so much bla bla when it comes to injection oil. For years I ran yamalube because it was cheep and a synthetic blend then 1 year I switched to amsoil interceptor that is fully synthetic. The only thing I noticed different was that the amsoil kept the raves a bit cleaner. But to say synthetic is better? I'd have to disagree. The best oil you can use is the oil that's easiest for you to have access to and doesn't cost a fortune.

I still run yamalube in my snowmobiles because every gas station carrys it up north and I no ill be able get it need be. That way I'm not constantly switching brands.

Do you have some documentation on that lawsuit thing? I'd like to read it.

So, are you guys saying that it is ok to MIX the two in our machines?

I did that once and had a major mess to clean up, and the entire bottom half of the oiling system was clogged almost solid.

I am assuming you mean that you can use either/or, but not mixing...

Scooper, if you run the oil tank dry(ish) and then fill with another brand then it's ok as long as you are going to use the ski right away

That make sense. I just wanted to make sure this guy didn't have someone splash in a half tank of one on top of the other like i did.

That was a MAJOR mess and a lot of work to clean up, and luckily I didn't burn up my engine in the process.

Thanks for the replies guys I was starting to worry. Its just it runs fine, starts fine - no issues what so ever. But another guy at the marina who has some sporty single seat jetski told me his uses up full tank of oil to full tank of gas.

I think its the difference in the machines and manufacturers. I found another guy who has same jetski but a 99 and his goes about 3 gas tanks per oil tank. So i guess its normal for my jetski.
