bought this GTS about 2 months ago. Ran fine, albeit with a slight lowspeed hesitation, till we flipped it. That stirred up whatever crap was in the tank, and it was done. So far, we have pulled the tank and cleaned it, replaced the 2 main gray fuel lines with the standard $1 a ft line from NAPA, and been through the carb, cleaning the filter and all jets/orifices (besides the high speed jet, it is frozen in place) We took it for a water test yesterday, and it ran fine for about 10 minutes. Then it began to die out at WOT. Still would idle fine. Today we removed the carb again, and cleaned the filter as well as the jets/orifices. This time it ran for about 20 minutes perfectly, then it starting bogging on WOT. With the throttle held open, it would bog down to like a half throttle speed for a few seconds, then speed back up. Also, it will sometimes bog around 1/2 throttle, unless you really ease into it, and let it load up.
Is this a problem with the high speed jet, or just the filter clogging again. The ski still runs and idles fine, but with the problems above. We now plan to ride it around for about a full tank of gas to flush everything out, then pull the carb one last time and use a proper rebuild kit, instead of reusing old diaphrams and oring gaskets.
(Also, we did the previous testing with the spark arrestor OFF. Could that have anything to do with the bogging?)
I am getting fed up with this ski lol, so any help you guys can give would be appreciated. Am I on the right track of keep cleaning the filter till I get all the crud out?
