Hey guys,

Quick question.

I bought a couple Mikuni carb rebuild kits for my 98 GSX Limited. Unfortunately, they did not include some pretty important parts...such as new mounting gaskets and accelerator pump. I need the gaskets that mount to the motor and also the gaskets for the other side closer to the air box. The mechanic called them carb flange gaskets, but no one seems to know them by that name.

Anyway, do I need to buy a new kit all together that includes these parts? Or is there a way to get them separately? Either way, can someone point me in the right direction as to where to get these parts? The carbs are reassembled and ready to be put back on once I get these parts.

Thanks!

when you "rebuilt" the carbs, did you re-use the oem needle springs or ones from the kit?

You can re-use the carb base gaskets, as long as they are not ripped/torn..etc

The "top gasket" of those carbs, i believe your referring to, that seals carbs to airbox, is the o-rings. You can re-use those as well.

The excel pump rebuild kit, believe, they're hard to find, to rebuild. All you need to do, is take apart, clean the check-valves out with carb cleaner, along with the fuel lines from them. Make sure the excel pump "squirts" fuel/carb cleaner, then you know, they're clear of crud.

I am not really sure what exactly was done. I gave them to a mechanic my brother knew. He told me he needed these parts. Working with this guy has been less than an ideal situation so far, so I am not sure if he really NEEDS these parts. I will ask him if he can just re-use the originals.

The carbs were really bad off though. The low speed jets were completely clogged and there were indications the carbs had taken in a lot of water. So I am not sure if the pump can be re-used. I have no idea about this type of stuff, unfortunately.
