98 gsx ltd info center

Just picked up a 98 gsx limited. Runs great, but has the gray fuel lines and bowl filter was pretty clogged so I will replace those. My question is regarding the info center and speedometer. Both are dead. Does the info center control the speedometer. I mean if I replace the info center will that fix my speedometer too, or are they 2 separate issues. They seem to be electrically connected.

they are electrically connected, make sure the gauge is getting 12v.

the info centers are fairly reliable, I'd suspect wiring, fuse issue first.

the gauges work separately but the 12v power supply is daisy chained.

Yah, I know it doesn't affect the ride, just wondered. I checked the fuses, but I haven't pulled the gauges out to test for power at the plug. It's in my dad's garage, so I'll look at it on the weekend before I winterize it. Thanks
