98 GSX Limited - Missfire and stall

I just rebuilt the top end of my 98 GSX Limited with the 951 motor. I have the carbs set at stock settings, 1 3/4 for low, 1/4 out for high. It starts right up and idles great. But if you try to give it some throttle it bogs and dies. If I play with the thottle and get it going it runs strong at wide open revving out at 6800 or so. The plugs look good nice and tan. Anything at half thottle to 1/4 it starts to missfire, bogs then quits. I tried all the up to 3 turns out on the low end, increasing the high to 1-2 full turns with no help. Anyone have an idea?

Stock setting on the carbs is low speed screws 1 3/4. High Speed "0". Check the accelerator pump operation, as it influences the idle to 1/2 throttle range on take off.

I did clean the carbs before putting everything back together, but i didn't replace anything in them. The accelerator pump works fine.

The ski ran fine right after the rebuild, it didn't bog and die, it just miss-fired at wot from a dead stop. Once planed out the missfire would subside.

Now at wot from a dead stop, if it doesn't bog and quit, it jumps to 6500 and takes off like a bastard.

My 99GTX was doing the same thing last week. As I was looking over everything I noticed that one of the pressure lines going to the rave valves was cracked. So I replaced all the rave hoses with new for less that $2.00.
She runs like a "scalded dog" now.

Might be something to check out.

Possibly the needle and seat, but retain the old spring and reuse if you replace. Also possibly new button filters.
