The head pipe is out getting welded.

Im just waiting on the new hood to come in.

Here is the hood im getting. Im going to take the grey portion and swap it out for the yellow piece on this one. I think the grey will just make this look sooooo much better.

We were going to put it up for $2000 but my brother saw it in the warehouse and wants to buy it, must be his tax returns talking lol.

2k is about right for a northern ski, but its nice to be able to pre-sell it :)

I had the exact model, was about 95% as clean, and had non functioning gauges, and I was barely able to squeeze 1650 out of it on a trailer.

personally I like this model (and the 96 for that matter) without the stock decals, stripped clean, and a few stickers added back on.

I just never really liked the wishbone hull with a 787, felt sluggish, I liked the xpl's more because of the nice top end it delivered. Your bro might find that a prop will add quite a bit to the hole shot. My biggest complaint about my 2001 xpl was that it would get so hot in the storage bin (right over the engine) that my ham and cheese hoagies used to turn into ham and cheese melts !

But I really like this hull for long river cruises and such, and it handled the chop very well also, I just couldn't get it more than a few inches out of the water when jumping a wake.

I have a question. I have noticed that in some of your rebuilds, you put the registration stickers on them. Why do you do this? I know in Missouri(where im from) whenever the ski changes owners that you are assigned a new registration numbers and have to put new decals on them. Is it different in Michigan?

in Florida the Reg #'s never change, i "think" its the same in Michigan, the only thing I ever did as a seller was to not put the Registration sticker (with the expire sticker on it) even if I had one, that way the new owner couldn't just ride the ski while it was still titled and registered in my name using my registration sticker, and never get around to doing his paperwork, more of a self protection thing than anything else.

and on a side note, i thought it was weird to see you install those stickers as two separate sets of vinyl, usually when I order stickers, even outline ones like that, they are on one piece of sticky. That must have been a trepidus moment getting that to line up perfectly on the 2nd part of the install, I don't have real steady hands, it would make me jumpy.

Once a watercraft is asigned a registration number here they stay the same forever, we just have to get new tabs every 3 years, it is a square sticker that goes on the end of the numbers. As for not using the registration sticker, that doesnt work here. The tabs transfer with the seller, just have to make sure that the buyer signs the title in front of you and you get a copy ofthe title signed and a copy of their id. Plus getting reg#s that match everything make the buyers really appreciate the build, I feel the reg numbers most skis have look cheap.

Putting on the second later is very easy, you just spray a water/soap mix on the area after the first one goes down, the second one the mask becomes tranparent when it hits the water so you can line it up perfect just by simply sliding it around. The water allows you to slide it around like warm butter on bread. If i get 1 color they are on the same mask and i only have to put down 1 peice

Looking good as always JSG!

Thanks Nick, pulling off that pump mount and scraping all that silicone away was a nightmare. I wish i took pictures of that. About 8 hours total of scraping, when i got the parts from you, we had them on in about 20 minutes and its been smooth sailing since.

I should just start one thread. MY RESTO PROJECTS. It would probably be hard to keep to keep organized though. I just dont want to have a ton of threads out there. I guess after, I get the 99 spx done I wont do anymore of these resto threads, I think it would get too repetitive.

Why not keep making threads? It's not like a ton of threads is posted here. Might as well fill em with awesome resto mods. So it's not like you'll make a ton of clutter and someones thread will be lost in them.

Yeah...i definitely also like the threads you make. Keeps us in tune with working on our skis, even if it isnt our own, here in the cold season. Nice to see someone working on them in January that isnt in Australia. Lol

I hauled off and bought myself a 100' roll of that orange "fuel line" off ebay. It's complete junk! The fuel around here had it hard as a brick in two weeks. I thought "that's OK, the fuel system is done, I don't have to fool with them anymore anyway". But a leak formed that first season. I don't mean from pulling them off the nipple and putting them back on cause there is none of that with the stiffness. I mean all on it's own without being harassed. Your not clipping it back a little and returning it to the nipple either cause it's too stiff to seal. I'm just using it for vent and water lines now.

The fuel line, I use on mine too, I havent had a problem YET. I like it because i can see the fuel going through it. I get mine from fastflowfuellines.net I know some guys say its not coast gaurd approved. If you read the sticker that I dont remove from the back of the hull, it clearly states this vessel does NOT have to comply with coast guard laws including FUEL systems. It is not a pressurized system so it is not needed. Anyways I use it on mine and if its good enough for mine it is good enough for the ones I sell. I know some of you guys have had problems in the past with it. I go through my carbs every spring and those were put on 2 years ago and still no problems. I dont run anything special either, just premium gas like im sure all of you run as well. If I do start running into problems I will change my ways though.

Got the MATS from watercraft superstore, they are just blacktip, grey diamond plate. Got them on black friday, 50% off free shipping. That was a huge thread started in nov.

Jetskigoodies...xp looks great....looks almost what i did to mine...what part of Michigan are you from? st clair shores area here...

Madison Heights here. We ride St Claire sometimes, usualy on Fridays. We wont go to metro though it is too dirty. We will drive to Algonac. We launch and ride the river, then we go down the middle channel and we ride the flats, then we will stop at one of the stores/gas stations on Harsens Island, we Get gas and have lunch. After that we ride to gull Island and anchor then relax on the beach and go swimming. Then we ride back, it is about a 5-6 hour ride and we have 5-6 people go.

265.jpg

On the weekends we ride 1 of 2 places. We have a couple cottages we go to. If we want a close short car ride and are just going for an overnight trip we go to Lexington. The water is a little colder but its fun.

This is our prefered spot to go, its a 2 1/2 hr drive but it is the cleanest lake ive even been to. There isnt any seaweed, there are not any rocks, it is just crystal clean and all sand. You can walk out a couple hundred yards and the water will only be up to your chest, but then at the drop off it drops to 240ft. We leave our boat up there all summer, we anchor at the drop off, so if you want to dive in off the front of the boat you can, and in the back you can walk around and play football or frizbee or just walk wade around with a beer. We anchor all our seadoos around the boat and will get on them and ride around the island. Last 4th of july we had i think 7 up there but this yr im sure there will be more, we will take 4, my fiance's brother now has 2 and he has a couple buddies that may come, 1 has 2 96 xps, another has a 95 xp800 and a 95 spx, and another one has a96 xp. If my brother goes he will have the 97xp.

Its the best lake ive even been to, it is completely surrounded be trees, and there are 2 campgrounds on the lake, one on the northside and one on the southside. North state park is the family friendly park, where they dont tolerate any nonsence and is nice for families, but south state park is like girls gone wild, thats where all the fun is, there is easily 100 boats anchored right in front of the beach and the beach and water is just packed with people. Holiday weekends are nuts. National geographic placed 4 or 5 at being oneof the cleanest lakes in the united states. If you havent been there i suggest you go at least once. I am warnng you though it will ruin you, you want want to go anywhere else around here lol

This happens their every holiday weekend,

I was going to add more of these videos but just go to youtube, search higgins lake chicken fight, the girls get better and the chicken fights a little rougher. Im shocked noone has ever been hurt, oh yeah there is about 5-6 sheriffs watching too, on boats and jetskis.

The hood is on a greyhound bus now coming from Maryland. So should have it soon. Shipping it on grey hound was $75, usps qouted it at $180. The head pipe is back on. The only thing left to do is swap parts from the hood. I will be selling all the gauges off of the 2000 xp hood, I will also be selling the top half of the hood and the steering cable. The only thing we are keeping is the bottom grey portion of the hood and the handlebar pad everything else will be for sale.
