i was trying to say that the 97+ jump nearly as well as the X4, as long as you can trim all the way up, they land almost vertical so the landing is soft. for higher speed launches off of big waves/wakes, trim down a bit so you don't get kicked over the bars when you land. the longer and narrower hull with a deeper V lets it handle chop better. the GSX is basically a slightly scaled up x4 hull so its better for 2-up riding while giving a similar ride to the x4.
the earlier models were known for breaking the hood gas shock mount. some people said it was due to jumping, but in looking at mine it looks like the standoffs inside the hood get broken off when someone leans on the hood while its open and pushes it too far up. the later models had a different design where the shock pushed directly on the hinge which i think were more durable.
