97 XP idles high, no idle speed screw

Started trying to adjust the idle down, and found there was no idle speed screw, idles too fast, how can i adjust this?

I believe you adjust the idle where the throttle cable attaches. There should be a throttle position adjustment where the throttle cable attaches to the throttle lever.

Yeah there should be something there, but its not, its missing, now im wondering why it idles to high. I tried adjusting the throttle cable, but that just loosened the throttle lever. I wonder if the timing is a little to advanced? it runs out great...Mid 50's mph

OK... is that the low speed adjustment screw? and should it be about 3/4 to 1 full turn from being seated as a starting point?
