On my 97 XP the gas and speedo gauge do not work, but the VTS gauge appears to work (it shows half every time I turn it on) but the VTS itself doesn't work. There is a click that comes from the area of the VTS when I push the down button, but nothing when I push the up.
I think the issues with these are related as I read in another thread of another 97 XP that has the exact same problem (http://www.seadooforum.com/showthread.php?t=30721)
Any idea of what it could be?
And I do not have the ski here it is two hours away so I can't do any tests till I go back in 3 weekends. I would like to know all the possibilities so I can try them all when I get there so keep giving me ideas...
Thanks

Is there any other ski out there with this same problem, even if they didn't fix it?

Still looking for answers, I got two weeks till I get to the ski then only three days once I'm there with no internet, I need answers.

gas gauge - fails constantly, sending unit in the tank is not working properly, measure the resistance, can be repaired, either your float has sank or your F1 fuse is blown in the fuel baffle.

speedo - fails more than the fuel baffle, check your paddle wheel, the sender on the ride plate can't be fixed, has to be replaced.

VTS - fails even more than the speedo, the rear boot cracks and lets water in and then fries the module or motor or both.

all common failures but easy fixes for even a novice seadoo tech.

Ok. The gauges are worthless on these things. I have a 97xp that is exactly the same. The speed sensor on the back of your ski (paddle wheel) is probably out and the fuel baffle/ sending unit lost a magnet or blew the f1 fuse. Neither are important really. I have seen maybe 2 ski's of this age that the vts still works. Mine reads center as well whis is better than all up or down. Vts will cost about $150 and will most Likely go out on u again. You can check the 7.5a fuse in the little black fuse box in the nose of the ski but it's probably the motor in the rear. The speed sensor can be bought for about $60 on eBay. Just make sure you get the right one (these are a 2 wire) the baffle wil cost about $40 and are a pain to replace but not immpossible. As long as the ski is running I would just enjoy it and look more into fixing the little things later when you have more time. Hope this helps man.
