97 xp clynder head cover

Was wondering if anyone could help me out? I went to install new spark plugs for the first time since buying it of a guy and was not able to get it back on straight noticed that it was pretty worn down and am worried that i may have gotten metal fibers down the spark plug holes. the trouble i'm having is i'm not to sure how the clynder head cover comes off. undid all the bolts on the top but am unable to get the cover off is there something i'm missing? thanx

did you take off carb support bracket? if so, het cylinder head cover with soft face hammer along edge to break rubber oring seal loose

yup, a flathead or pry bar, to break the "seal" of calcium and o-ring wear.
