Bought a 97 XP with the 787 two stroke in it last night. Had it out today and it was running like a champ. About 60 mph or so. Was riding the ski and all the sudden it just bogged down and died. Couldn't restart it, brought it home and checked spark, then compression. 130psi or so in the rear, about 30psi in the front cylinder. Is there anything that could be causing the front cylinder to not build compression? Could one of the RAVE valves or a reed valve (if they have them, I'm used to motorcycles) be stuck open or installed incorrectly to cause this? Thanks for the help!

I pulled the head off today and it actually looks like the wrist pin came loose and slid out of the piston, hitting the cylinder wall. Apparently that's a common problem in these engines if they are installed straight up or straight down.

That's really not a good statement. I don't hear too much about that problem happening...

That was something somebody told me. Something about the circlips needing to be pointing straight up or straight down. I'm not sure what forum he read it on. I've got the problem sorted out though. Thanks for the help
