Ok, I'm stumped, I think. When coming in to the ramp the other day the ski started stalling and had to be re started and was boggy. Thought maybe I was running out of gas and switched to reserve - still did the same thing. Luckily was right at the ramp. Didn't seem out of fuel (gauge doesn't work), but filled her up anyway the next day. When I tried to start it the next afternoon, it cranked and cranked and cranked but never fired once. Took the plugs out, they were dry, led me to believe it was a fuel issue. Read on here that the old grey lines should be replaced, and they have been already on my ski except for the vent and return lines from carbs to tank. Checked for spark, getting that. Checked that I was getting fuel at the carbs from supply line coming from filter and I am. Cranked engine with return line off and it squirts fuel (leading me to believe carbs are sucking gas correctly). Checked compression, 150 on front of ski cylinder and 140 on the other. The only thing that I have found so far is that the pressure relief valve seems to be stuck. When I blow on it, it won't let air through. Tried to start it with the hose off the relief valve, still nothing. Does it have to have the pressure relief valve connected and operating correctly in order to start? What could be the cause? I haven't checked the other pressure valve at the top of the ski that sucks air in. Also - the ski has run fine prior to this.
