97 SPX- please help identify this part

New to owning a ski, so forgive me if I don't know much right now,
still reading and learning.

Need some help with this
Just picked up a 97 SPX, great condition, I was looking inside and cleaning everything as
I have to change out the fuel lines and found one of the plugs on the exhaust that needs to be re welded.

But I found a part that I have no clue on,what it is and where it goes. any help would be great.

That sort of looks like a float for a fuel baffle. Are those magnets?

Just tested and yes they are magnets.
I guess since I will be replacing all fuel lines I will pull it out and see if they replaced the float and dropped in in the hull.
