Hi all,
I recently had the starter stay on out in the water the other day. I pulled the pwc out of the water took it home and disconnected the battery. I looked on this forum and found I probably needed a new starter relay. I looked in the water box and saw lots of rust so I disconnected everything and cleaned. I put everything back together and reconnected the battery and nothing, good. I pushed the start button and still nothing, not so good. I removed the relay and figured since it was bad I would investigate. I drilled out the tapping screws and wow nothing but rust. I cut the two small wires carefully and removed and cleaned all parts. The corrosion was bad I'm not sure how it worked this long. Put everything back together soldering the wires back and replaced the tapped screws with stainless steel screws. I pushed the start button again and everything worked as it should. I hope this helps somebody else I have not read anything about fixing the relay on any forum.

Usually if the starter solenoid is that bad off it's not worth repairing it unless your in a jam and it Sunday.

It was mostly surface rust. Some pitting on a plate but the main part of the relay is the copper wrapping which was perfect. A small spring which also looked ok. I guess if you want to throw it in the trash and buy a new one thats up to you.
