Yesterday I posted a message with concern on a wire (dark Purple) I couldnt quite figure out. After taking the MPEM cover of I saw that it was a ground wire. Now I am into new problems.
Whole story: Put a new battery in about a month ago. Started both engines, and ran water hose and ran the engines for about 2-3 minutes. Everything worked fine. Disconnected the battery and did nothing for about a month. Two evenings ago hooked battery back up and got nothing. No beeps and won't turnover.
Things I have done so far. Opened up MPEM and front fuse block and checked for any blown fuses. All seem good. When i hook the battery up and depress the start switch the oil light comes on and the fuel gauge moves and stays on for 33 seconds. So the timing seems to be correct. I read somewhere to depress the start switch 5 times to enter the diagnostic state and I should hear 1 short beep and 1 long beep. It doesn't do this at first. If i put the lanyard on and shift to either forward or reverse I get 1 short beep 1 long beep. If i leave it in neutral I don't get the 1 short 1 long beep. Everytime I depress the start switch when it is not testing timing I do hear a little click, the oil light comes on and it stays on for 33 seconds. I was assuming the click was the boat doing the timing test (true?).
This evening I am planning on testing the wiring to check ohms since it seems like everything I have read states that it may be a post or lanyard problem. I was also going to jump the solenoids and see if it starts that way. Is there anything else I should put on my list of things to check while I am messing around with the boat?
