Good day, when i have my sled parked in the water i noticed that it seems to fill with water over lets say 20 or 30 hours. I tillted the sled on the trailor and filled the engine compartment with water just above the shaft for the jet. It didnt leak out untill i wiggled (what looks like a rubber boot and big washer). any suggestions before I send it to shop.
You got my ski... I love that thing.
Your probably getting water in from your carbon ring and seal. This is where your shaft runs through the hull, to the impeller. This is the most likely place for water to enter.
But, if your exhaust hose is old and split at the joint where it passes through the hull, it'll come in there. I've seen this happen before. The last place to look is your bailer tubes. They work on a peri-jet principle. The thrust from your nozzle is used to create and area of low pressure, pulling a vacuum on your bailers, in turn removing the water. The bailer lines lead up from the bottom of the hull, where the bailer screens are, they then tie to the top of your hull, then run down to the pump. If the tie wraps that hold the bailer lines up have come un-done, or take down, water will run backward through the hull.
Because of the time frame were talking about, it sounds like it's your carbon seal and ring.
Lastly, if you read the manuals, you aren't suppose to leave the ski in the water when it's not being riden. There is no bilge pump set up to run if the hull should fill with water. If nothing else, you should at least pull it up on a beach.
