97 GTX Limited beeps every 5 minutes or so. Can someone tell me why?

I just bought a 1997 Seadoo GTX Limited in great condition. Came with a double trailer for $1700

Took it out for the third time today and it started emiting a very loud single beep about every 5 minutes or so, lasting about 4 or 5 seconds each time it occurs The gauges show the temperature is around 85 degrees (also noticed it said 135 hours - is that a lot?).

I would really appreciate any input. My local Seadoo shop has a 2 month backlog.

Imagin that. It's spring time, and everyones stuff won't start after winter. (lol) Sorry... but it is thier busy time.

OK... the problem.

When it beeps... do you see any red lights?

It could be low oil, or low fuel. (did you try topping of the tanks?)

No... 135 hr's is not a lot for a 14 year old ski. It still has a lot of life left... if it was cared for.

Wouldn't the owner's manual say something about warning lights?

Yes... you can get the owners manual, free, from Seadoo's web site. You will have to register first though.

Normally, when the buzzer is making noise, one of the warning lights will be on. And, since the time interval is so long... it's not a normal warning.

If the temp sender was bad... then while the buzzer was going off... the red "Temp" light would also be on.

Actually... do you have the multy gauge, or the info center?
 
OK... you have an info center. BUT... if something is tripping the buzzer... then you should have a warning light. UNLESS........ there is a short in the buzzer wire.

First and foremost, I really appreciate the help here.

Allow me to clarify - I believe I have seen the warning light come on one or twice, but not necessarily in conjunction with the buzzer. I know for sure the buzzer was going off yesterday without a red light.
Is the info center supposed to tell you anything when a buzzer or red light comes on ( ie - "overheating" "low fuel" etc.) ? Because if that is the case, it is not.
Is 85 degrees within normal operating range?

how much fuel is your gauge reading? sounds like low fuel beep
Full tank.

I disconnected the heat sensor yesterday to check contact, and every time I disconnect it the exact same beep occurs. Same length, same tone. Do these sensors ever go bad?
 
Yes they do go bad. Or the connector gets broken because of the location of sensor. Or the sensor is broken or cracked
 
The next time the warning buzzer beeps (while your riding) use a stop watch and time it exactly between beeps. Do that twice and see how close the times are. If you are riding in choppy water, a bad connection at the sensor would do that. It sounds like a loose or partially broken sensor plug.

So is the point here to determine whether they are occuring at equal intervals (suggesting it is an internal warning), or at different intervals (suggesting it is being driven by something else such as bumping around) ?
 
on my xp limited the oil sending switch connector sometimes gets condensation on the connector, the reading oil amount is correct but it will beep and the light will come on. I then pull the hood open unplug the wire wipe the condensation off the connector and all is good. Also, my lanyard connector is magnetic; i have seen metal shavings get inside and thus cutting the connection for a short period of maybe 500 milliseconds, enough to make it beep.
