how difficult is it to remove the jet pump i have a engine really hard to turn over and bill suggested i take jet pump off to maybe free it up, if its not that and engine is still hard what would be the problem any help i would appreciate thanks.

It's not that hard, unless some idiot (like me), installed it the last time and used too much sealant. When you reinstall the pump, use the neoprene washer, and go sparingly with the sealant, you really only need the sealant where stuff penetrates the hull. Four places, I think.

Here's a link showing how to replace the wear ring, which shows how to remove the pump.

Lou thanks alot! real fast do you think my motor is done since its hard to turn over without the plugs, are maybe just an issue with the pump making it hard to turn thanks again alan.

Probably too early to say. Usually when an engine seizes it locks up, so it's a good sign that it turns over, even if its hard to turn over.

Thank you Lou, i will take my pump off and at least free it from that end and see what happens.

Thanks again Alan

Lou hey i took the pump out and its frozen the motor now turns freely can i rebuild the pump or do i need to buy a new one are a good used one? also if that locked up on him when he had it do you think it did any damage to the motor are just the pump itself? thanks again i appreciate all your help alan.

That's great news. I would probably go ahead and replace the wear ring while you're at it. The thread I gave you earlier, shows how to do it. You can rebuild the one you have, probably the easiest and cheapest. The other option is buy a rebuilt one from SBT.

lou had another quick question can i get the bearings and o rings at a pump place or should i at least order a new pump rebuild kit?

thanks alan.

I would order the rebiulds kit that is purposly for your pump. There only like 50 bucks and will fit great. Good luck and at least it wasnt your motor.

yeh your right i just hope that didnt do any damage to my motor when it locked up on the last owner

thanks alan
