I ended up not going for the speedster or the speedster sk and put a deposit down on a 97 challenger 1800. I will be going to take it out for a test drive in a week or so, is there anything i should pay attention to, or look for? The dealer said it was just in for a service, new spark plugs and such, and i am going to get them to do a compression test, anything else i should do? This is going to be my first boat so i hope i made a good choice.

I am assuming that the seadoo dealer im getting it from looked it over I just want to make sure.

I have done a lot of searching here and can't really find anything, any help would be greatly appreciated.

if it has good compression, and runs good in the water... I'd say go for it if the price is right.

ok thanks...im gonna get the dealer to do the compression test next time im there, and hopefully it runs good on the water

First off just want to say that you guys here seem really knowledgable and I have learned alot reading all these post, which helped me out alot before I even bought this boat.I have always driven outboards and this is my first seadoo i have owned and driven.

I finally got the boat and took it for a ride yesterday and I absolutely love it, had some difficulty trying to back it up and turning around but thats a whole other story lol. Had a little issue trying to start the starboard motor but that was probably just because it was the first time starting after being summerized. It pulled good took about 5 seconds to get to 60mph on the speedo which seems quick.

I have 3 questions which I can't seem to find on here anymore. When cruising the port side seems to be about 500rpms lower then the starboard which could be a throttle cable adjustment i am hoping? and 2nd is that the bilge pump doesnt seem to be working, is there a way to test it at all, just to see if its the wiring to it or a new pump is required. and 3rd is the gas guage is not working at all, but will the red light (i am assuming thats low fuel warning light) work still? I am not sure how far I can drive on a tank of gas yet.

Thanks for you help.

Also after pulling it out of the water i unscrewed the drain plug and there seemed to be quite a bit of water coming out, is this normal? I was reading something about a carbon ring, where would that be located and how would I check if a new ones is needed?

The red light comes on when the injection oil is low.
You should have a low fuel alarm on the dash also.
The bilge switch as a green light that comes on when it is on. You should be able to hear it running. If not.
You can check the pump by wiring it to a 12V system and see if it powers up. If it powers up, check it to see if it is clogged.
