Yep. That was it.

I ran a tank of gas through it with no electrical problems whatsoever. Almost got pitched off in a turn, that's not the wiring's fault.

Man, I love this machine!

Update: Since re-doing the connector and replacing a bad wire I experienced another intermittant failure. Engine was cutting out. I limped it home and found another highly corroded wire. Stripping the insulation back I found that the copper conductor strands were black and crunchy. Replace the wire and things are back to normal. At least for now.
