96 xp rpms

Hey guys went to the lake today and hooked these rpm gauges I got up. In te water my first ski does 1500 -1560 at idle full throttle I just would get to 6630

2nd ski idles about 1450-1500 in the water and it makes it to 6920 in full throttle. I ran them side by side full throttle and they armed right there together. Maybe little faster on 2nd ski. Why are my rpms not same and should I look for anything. Both had a full charged battery and new plugs and full tanks. Also both skis have 140 psi on cylinders.

We went today, it was great, the water was a little cold, the ski ran great and not a lot of traffic on the lake. We decided to call it a day and came home, looks like bad weather tomorrow. While at the dock one of the guys said these are nothing but fun. So Im finally gonna name the ski "Nuthin-But-Fun". Waddu think?

Anyway about your question, if the skiis are running about the same I would just attribute the difference in RPM's as gauge error, or difference in the rev. limiter.

Awsome day man had lots of fun. I tried and tried to fly off. Finally did. Then I was so tired and sore by end of day I was falling off from a turn Haha.

Ya there were 4 other seadoos in water besides my 2 and no boats. One ski had 2 kids. They flipped it. Didn't have key strapped to them. And flipped it bk over n tried n tried to start it. I think it got locked up. I pulled them in and then there were just 3 other skis lol. It's a great name and the truth.

Ya back to the rpms. It's kinda weird tho like its not to its full potential. I bought 2 identical gauges. I even switched them from skis to see if that was problem and sane rpms. Hmmm weird huh.

About the only thing I could suggest is to check and see if the thumb control is pulling the throttle all the way open, it's easy to adjust.

Hmm. Ya your right. How can I make sure its pulling it all open. Look at the Carbs.

There's a stop on the carbs. push the linkage to the stop and see if there is any slack in the cable.

I'm not too sore, didn't do a lot of hot doggin, waters too cold. However my cel phone is sleeping with the fishes. I don't ever take it to the lake I forgot I had it on, oh well.

Got the gauges installed huh?

I bet you just need to get a bit of slack out of the throttle cable.

Where did you get the gauges, and how did you mount it, I don't have a tach. on my ski, would like to have one.

I got them off eBay. I am on my phone or I would fins you a link. Minnetonka4me recommended this one. It just wraps around your plug wire good. Tape it up,

I loosened the choke piece a little and slid the wire threw there then it comes with some double sided tape. Look up TTO hour-tach its a little gauge like 35 shipped but works good n good display.

Yeah I got one too...I have only needed it for setting idle on machines w/o a tach, but its worked great for that!

I checked the throttle and it is tight when at full throttle. And same as other ski. Can't get no more out of it. What else could it b

Hey Brandon,

I don't know what else to tell you, maybe the rev limiter? Short of taking it to the dealer, I wouldn't know how to set it.

Try PM'ing Minnetonka or Doc, see if they have any ideas.

Ya I might try that. How much is a new rev limited.

I think??? the rev. limiter is part of the MPEM, and would need to be set by the dealer, and it may be preset at the factory. I may be totally wrong.....
