Sorry for the story but here it is: Took the ski to the lake and it ran fine but I ended up sucking something up and destroying my wear ring. Bought the OEM part off-line and installed the wear a ring and seal, took it to the lake and it ran for about an hour but now it will not start. It was really choppy at the lake but it seemed like it would not accelerate like normal the most I could go was roughly 15 to 20 mile an hour then when I came into the bank it cut out and when I started it back up and gave it gas I had no revs at all and then it died and would not start again. I have recently replaced the starter, starter solenoid, rectifier, new battery, new where ring and nose cone, and cleaned my rave valves and replaced gaskets.. I also cleaned the upper filter on the carbs but I have not rebuilt them. The guy who owned the ski before me said he changed the grey tempo fuel lines but it appears that I still have one running from the carbs to the gas line and green ooz is leaking from the corners of the line. Could it be a fuel delivery problem? Could I have installed the wear ring incorrectly?

Grey line/Green ooze could be the issue. Possibly could have pinched the thrust washer when you were putting impeller back on shaft after changing the wear ring.

Check the fuel selector
Change that one fuel line
And clean the carb

This go on and on ... I'm still chasing a start up issue on my xp. It starts up in the garage and revs pretty good. Doesn't last 2 minutes in water. Those Mpem boxes were changes the prior year. If yours has 96 sticker on it then you missed the recall (97 serial on the Mpem)

I would inspect the carb filters and diaphra, since you are doing that one fuel line specially when it's oozing green gunk.look into the carbs

Chick- Remove the *plugs and drive cover, then hand turn the drive pto flywheel to feel if drive is free or bound up.

Cpt- you may have a loose fuel supply line connector, but try pulling the choke a little at a time to see if you have a fuel starve problem, carb passageway & jet crud. Use a single strand of copper wire to poke these out. Also wire out the pulse fitting on engine and tighten connectors.

Thanks for the replies! I just ordered new needles and seats, a carb gasket kits I I can tear them apart, a new fuel filter and I'm going to do some research on on the fuel selector.. Any recommendation for fuel lines, like any particular kind should I purchase?

It was a pinched thrust bearing, but the ski still won't crank over after replacing starter (which was shot)... any suggestions??

pull the pump back off and put the drive shaft out of the motor see if you can start it. also where at in ohio are you from?

When I replaced the wear ring did I have to hold the driveshaft up? It was just suspended within the hull for a few hours and then I put a block of wood under the driveshaft to hold it up. Could that cause any issues? --- I'm from columbus, was hoping to take her out to Alum Creek today but now I'm thinking I'll be in the garage all night again [emoji27]. Where are you from?
