Mpem....
This is the first year of the DESS (digital electronic security system). When you connect your lanyard, do you get two beeps? If not, leave the lanyard off your post, push the start/stop button on one engine, 5 times. You should hear one long, one short beep. Then, put the lanyard on the post. How many beeps did you hear. IF you heard none, then you should be able to start.
If you still have no fire, check your fuses.
How do you know you don't have fire to the spark plugs? Did you actually ground a plug to the engine block and turn the engine over?
This boat, with the twin 717cc engines uses the CDI ignition system with a primary and secondary set of windings. If your magneto is not generating the power for your CDI, you'll have no spark. If your maneto is generating the power but one of the windings is shot, you won't get spark.
A defective speed limiter will create a no spark issue. To find out if the speed limiter is causing your no spark issue, disconnect the BLACK/RED/GREEN wires from the magneto system. If you have spark, then the speed limiter is your problem.
There is not much you can do to test your electrical system because it requires the BRP ignition tester but you can check the resistance on your generating coil output. At the magneto, if you can determine your black wire and your black/red wire, you can test the resistance on it. You should get a reading somewhere between 40-76 ohms.......
The worse part of these systems, even if a coil tests good, it does not mean it isn't still faulty.
Your problem could be in your MPEM, magneto or coil.........so, this is going to be a difficult process to trouleshoot without the proper tools.......
