96 Speedsteer, engines cut off while at higher speeds

I have a 1996 speedster, running on an inland lake, experiencing shut down of both engines at the same time while running at higher rpm/on the water. The issue just came up within the last two weeks and does not seem to occur when idling at the dock there are no issues.

I suspect the DESS post may be going bad but would like some help in understanding the issue. Note: last summer I was experiencing similar symptoms and had a new DESS cap programmed which seemed to address the issue until recently.

Any input would be appreciated.

Exhaust leak is my guess. No air, no combustion.
