Yesterday I bought my first jetski, it's a 96 xp. But i cant ride it till next summer, so I am wondering how fast a stock 96 xp can go and by the way it has 160psi both cylinders is that a good compression. Thanks

If you have the grey fuel lines change them ASAP

Looks clean, it looks like someone has had at least the head off. You also need to change out the fuel lines and since it has the grey fuel lines you need to open up the carbs and clean those out.

At a closer look, the engine has either had a new top end or a complete rebuild. You can see a green base gasket, so someone has had the motor completely apart.

I cannot express how important it is to replace the lines, clean the carbs, clean the internal filters of the carbs, and do a VERY good cleaning of the fuel selector switch as others have already mentioned.

If you don't know why, ask and we will explain better...

On the hull on the opposite side of the gas cap there is switch/knob that controls the fuel delivery. On/off/reserve take that off and clean all the nipples inside and out thoroughly.

Instructions on how to take it off.

In the middle of the knob there will be a little rubber plug. Use a pick tool and remove the plug.
Under the plug there is a phillips head screw, use a p2 phillips screw driver to remove that.
Now grab the knob and wiggle and pull up on the knob. It will have some resistance but will come off. Under that there will be a plastic nut. Use a deep well socket or take the nut off. I am not sure off hand the size of the nut.
When you remove the nut the selector will be able to be pushed through the hull.
