96' GSX Fuel Delivery Problem

Hi, I have a 1996 Seadoo GSX, Last weekend it ran decently but then started dieing out. Now it cranks over but will not start. The spark plugs are dry and no gas comes out when I disconnected the fuelhose right before so I am assuming it is a gas delivery problem?
The gas is all from last season too by the way. I cleaned the fuel selector and i checked most hoses by blowing air threw them and they all seemed to be free of clogs so i dont think the fuel lines need to be replaced.
I also just replaced the battery annd spark plugs. If anyone has any ideas or personal experiences that may help please help me out.

The fuel pump is in the carbs... so if you remove the hose... you wouldn't get any fuel anyway.

Do you still have gray fuel lines? If you do... they need replaced... and I would think that the carbs are plugged up with Tempo fuel line goo.
 
Any idea how much hose although I don't think that's the problem though I wasnt able to locate any blockages. Is there a way to test if the fuel pump is functioning appropriately? Thanks
 
your gonna have to clean the carbs to make sure they are not clogged, listen to the doctor. only one carb has the pump so you might be able to get way with just taking the pump end off but i would just go through them both to make sure you dont have any tempo goop in them, those gray lines are shit................
 
And as far as "how much hose", you will need between 15 and 20 feet of 1/4 inch rubber fuel line, if you want to change them ALL... Also about 20 1/4 inch clamps... It's easy to do if you do them 1 at a time!
 
Ok I will start with the fuel pump and carbs before changing all the lines. What would be sufficient in cleaning the carbs? I was going to use sea foam but now it will not start so I can't.. thanks again
 
I would take them apart and rebuild them AND replace the lines... What's the point in cleaning them and not replacing the lines where all the Goo came from? Just my opinion, but I would not hook a clean carb to the grey lines only to possible have to clean them again...
 
I will replace them. every thread I looked in said to replace stock lines. But I meant first priority is carbS. To rebuild you need a rebuild kit right? Do you have any suggestions where to pick one up and a price tag?

Before I buy it do you have an idea how to make sure its the carb and not the fuel pump? Id hate to spend money on carbs and fuel pump when it might only Be one of them.
 
you sound like you want to rebuild the carbs and see if it runs then change the fuel lines. Don't even start the engine after rebuilding the carbs until you change the fuel lines. someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm going to say there is not a seperate fuel pump per se as you would find on your car, a pulse line from the crankcase to the mag carb works a plastic diaphram inside the mag carb that draws fuel into the carbs.
 
I was reffered to the parts website at the top of this site but was only able to find an entire carb for 400$ does anyone have a good place to get the carb rebuild kits? Thanks andyeah I will replace the fuel lines too I guess. Never thought about that
 
ok going to pick up the new fuel line tomorrow and replace all of it, Ive also ordered a carb rebuild kit, hopefully this will all work thanks.
 
You can find carb kits on ebay, i got mine from national carburator in jax fl. price range is around $50 per carb if you get new needle and seat, you have to order them seperate, they dont come in the kit, but you need to know what size you have to get the right one, they are marked............
 
So I cleaned the carbs and replaced all grey fuel line, but now it only wants to start with the assistance of starter fluid, any ideas? thanks
 
Double check the res/on/off and all the clamps. I used clamps and zip ties in spots my first time...it did not work. I went back and replaced zip ties with clamps, still didnt work. I then went back and tried wiggleing hose connections I found a clamp that I missed. Worked after that. But sometimes I get in a hurry.
 
I clamped all hoses in and cranked it over many times with no luck. I looked and even the fuel filter was bone dry now? That seemed odd to me. Any idea what that can signify?
 
Check your line from the water separator to the carb (main line) and make sure it isn't pinched... just a thought...
 
Me being a redneck and living in alabama would take the hose off at the carb and suck on it to see if I got gas going through the filter. If so maybe the diaphram is not right on carbs, or pulse hose has a leak.

This is exactly what needs done. But the less red-neck way is to use a hand held Vac-pump. (unless you like the flavor of fuel)

BUT... way at the top, you were told to change the Tempo hoses. Have you done that?? If not... then you will be chasing your tail... and never find your problem.
 
What is a tempo line. The only line I didn't change was the line from the pulse pump to (engine)? All other lines I switched. Not counting oil lines either.
 
Tempo lines are the grey lines... Ethanol causes them to goo up inside... ALL of them need to be changed except for the vent lines (will not hurt to change them if you want to)
 
Oh ok well yeah up In thread a little bit I said I replaced all gray fuel line and rebuilt carbs. So is that what you guys are talking about?
